About the Local Area
The nearest town is Auchterarder which is filled with different shops and restaurants to suit all styles. Close by is the famous Gleneagles Hotel which offers restaurants, a world-famous spa, sporting activities, a swimming pool, and golf – everything any guest would want so as not to be at a loose end!
Perthshire is the gateway to the Highlands, and so within a short drive you have Dunkeld and Pitlochry, both interesting and picturesque Scottish towns with an abundance of walking trails through the ancient woods and hills. There is also the very interesting Falls of Bruar and the salmon ladder at The Hermitage where you can, at certain times of the year, see the salmon jumping their way back up the river to spawn.
And of course, we have the well-known country clothing store House of Bruar, known as the Harrods of the North, close by. It offers you everything from clothing to gifts to shoes to spirits and food delicacies. Known to be a favourite stop off for the Royal family while they holiday on their estates in Scotland, it is a wonderful place to visit, and a food lovers delight.
For the whisky lovers there are several distilleries nearby. Just three miles south west of Auchterarder is the Tullibardine Distillery, or The Famous Grouse Experience is at Glenturret, in nearby Crieff.
